In April of 2024, the UP-Hub hosted its first Faculty Workshop, themed “Navigating Urban Uncertainties and Futures: Embracing the Nonrepresentational Lens for Socio-Spatial Inclusion”. Senior scholars from institutions such as UC San Diego, Columbia, Technion, and the Royal Holloway University of London convened in San Diego to explore themes of urban futures, engaging in tours with marginalized communities in San Diego and discussions with faculty and students.

The workshop culminated with the planned deliverable of an edited book, which discusses urban uncertainties and social justice through concepts and events from diverse urban arenas, and offering insight into what urban planning may look like in a future that is becoming less place-based.
