International scholars and faculty at the department of Urban Studies and Planning at UC San Diego presenting findings on the topic of urban uncertainties
In April 2024 and March 2025, the UP-Hub hosted its first Faculty Workshops, themed “Navigating Urban Uncertainties and Futures: Embracing the Nonrepresentational Lens for Socio-Spatial Inclusion”. Senior scholars from institutions such as UC San Diego, Columbia, Technion, and the Royal Holloway University of London convened in San Diego to explore themes of urban futures, engaging in tours with marginalized communities in San Diego and discussions with faculty and students.

The workshops culminated with an interfaces article, which discusses urban uncertainties and social justice through concepts and events from diverse urban arenas, and offers insight into what urban planning may look like in the future.
